Lot 3223 WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 .303 BRITISH LEVER ACTION

SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 303 (303 British). S# 49587. Bbl. 21 7/8". Model 1895 lever action saddle ring carbine mfg. by Winchester in 1905. Top of the receiver is marked "303" over the chamber, with Winchester's mfg. and patent information marked on the left. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Plain wood finger grooved forearm with contemporary production grooved wood handguard and straight grip buttstock with flat plain steel buttplate. Contemporary ramped and white painted bead front sight with contemporary Marbles flip-up aperture tang sight. Top of bbl. exhibits 2 filled in drilled and tapped holes towards the breech, with a single larger unfilled hole present at approx. the center of the bbl. Underside of the bbl. exhibits an added forearm lug. Carrier spring exhibits a brass brazed repair. Left side of receiver features a saddle ring stud and ring. CONDITION: metal components retain fair amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina, with scattered spots/patches of light to mild pitting present overall. Near mirror bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Forearm and buttstock exhibit scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with large areas of flaking to the varnish. Handguard is very good overall.
