Lot 3196 SECOND YEAR OF PRODUCTION WINCHESTER MODEL 1894
LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 38-55 WCF. S# 24032. Bbl. 26". Early Winchester Model 1894 mfg. in 1895. octagonal bbl. Full length mag. tube. Blue finish. Plain wood forearm and straight grip buttstock with crescent steel buttplate. German silver tipped blade front sight, with V-notch semi-buckhorn rear sight. Several action screws are replacements. CONDITION: receiver retains some of its original blue finish, showing fading and wear that shows through to gray patina, with light to mild surface oxidation present overall. Bbl. and mag. tube retain the majority of their blue finish, showing some spots of thinning, with edge wear and light surface oxidation. Forend cap, lever, hammer, and buttplate show a mostly mottled gray patina. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent light to mild pitting, while retaining worn rifling throughout. Action functions appropriately when cycled by hand. Sanded and refinished wood shows a few superficial marks and minor impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise presents nicely.
