RIFLE. Cal. 25-35 WCF. S# 963345. Mfg. 1923. Bbl. 20" rd with shallow dovetailed Lyman white bead front sight and elevator adjustable semi buckhorn rear sight. "Manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. / New Haven. Conn. U.S.A. Patented August 21 1894" found directly center left on barrel. "-Nickel Steel Barrel- / Especially for smokeless powder - .25-35 W.C.F." found at the left side of breech end of bbl. Takedown action with "SHC" found stamped on the bbl portion of the takedown. Plain trigger. "29 (dot)(dot)" found on the upper tang. Style I checkered pistol grip stock set with "29" found in the upper channel of the stock and under the buttplate. The stock terminates with a reblued possible replacement crescent steel butt plate and Winchester Repeating Arms pistol grip cap. CONDITION: overall condition is good with the bbl retaining 85% of its original bluing that is thinning and showing scattered handling marks. Receiver finish has thinned to about 20% with most being in the protected areas. The balance has turned to a brown/grey patina with scattered handling marks and light scratches. The stock set has been refinished and the checkering is freshly cut. Bore shows light frosting with sharp rifling. (25-1325/ZAL). CURIO. $1,500-2,250.
