ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 32-40. S# 9404. Bbl; oct, shortened to 24". Combination front sight, sporting rear sight with combination tang sight. Full length mag. Action has nearly full coverage vine type foliate scroll engraving with punch dot background with gold wire borders. Right side game scene shows a leopard. Left side game scene shows a running buck. Breech and muzzle ends have gold inlaid lines, crescent steel buttplate has wedges of complimentary engraving with gold border around peak. Standard 9 3/8" forearm and hard rubber capped pistol grip stock of XXX fancy black walnut with style H factory checkering. Left inside of lower tang is marked with assembly number 2360 followed by wood grade marking XXX. Top tang channel of stock has a matching assembly number. Mfg. in 1894, first year of production. CONDITION: bbl and action retain over 90% lightly worn blue showing some carry and edge wear. Hammer and lever retain over 90% restored case colors. Refinished wood has lightly worn checkering with scratches and marks. Forearm has poor fit at the metal. Sound mechanics. Darkened bore with light pitting retains intact rifling. (01-26784/DS).
