Lot 3173 WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 LEVER ACTION SADDLE RING
CARBINE. Cal. 44-40. S# 801861. Bbl. 16". Model 1892 lever action saddle ring carbine mfg. by Winchester in 1915. Left side of the bbl. is marked with the model and cal. designations above Winchester's mfg. information. Receiver, bbl. bands, and buttplate exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, with remaining metal components exhibiting their original factory blue finish. Hammer exhibits an apparent reapplied case colored finish. Plain wood forearm and straight grip stock with steel carbine buttplate. Wood furniture has been sanded and refinished at one time. Pinned German silver blade front sight with dovetailed V-notch rear sight. Left side of receiver features a lanyard staple and ring. CONDITION: reapplied blue parts retain the majority of their finish, showing some areas of wear and thinning, with scattered spots of light to mild pitting present beneath the finish. Bbl. exhibits areas of wear and thinning fading to gray patina, with scattered spots of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting. Near mirror bore, exhibiting some spots of light pitting, while retaining good, albeit worn rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics.
