Of the approx. 152,000 letterable Model 1886 Winchesters produced, research by John Madl indicates only 6,223 were manufactured as carbines (4.1% of production), making original 1886 SRCs quite rare. Full length mag. Pinned blade front sight w/ carbine leaf rear sight. Action has saddle ring on left side. Carbine forend & straight grip Stocks have moderately worn finish showing scratches & marks. walnut stock w/ steel carbine buttplate. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: Cody Firearms Museum letter stating the following: Carbine / 40/65 / Received in the warehouse on April 25, 1891 / Shipped from the warehouse on April 30, 1891, with 14 other Model 1886's, work order 3147. CONDITION: small amount of fading blue is left in protected areas. The balance of the metal has gray/ brown appearance w/ scattered light corrosion & handling marks. Sound action.
