Cal. 45-90 WCF. S# 118351. Bbl. 30" octagon to round, 4" longer than standard. Left bbl. flat is engraved "Special from W. F. Sheard, Tacoma, Wash." Brass bead Sheard hunting front sight and elevator adj. sporting rear sight with a combination tang sight. Full length mag. The action has generous coverage of unsigned custom vine type scroll engraving that continues to the breech end of the barrel, forend cap & crescent steel buttplate and rear sight. Right side of the receiver features a ram's head above the loading gate with a bear on the forward portion. Left side vignette depicts a bull moose. The bottom of the receiver has a bull moose bust. Replacement forend & straight grip stock of fancy walnut have custom style "E" checkering. Left inside tang is stamped with assembly # 88 followed by wood grade marking X. Top tang channel of the stock has matching assembly # 88. These ass. # markings appear to be added. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: Waddy Colvert Firearms Rearch letter dated 1-10-08. CONDITION: bbl. & mag. tube retain 90% reblued finish. Action has small amounts of remaining added nickel finish. Wood shows handling marks. Toe of the stock has an added wood repair that is subsequently missing a 1/2" chip. Sound action. Dark lightly pitted bore retains strong rifling. (01-28722/DS). ANTIQUE. $5,000-7,000.
