LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 40-82. S# 49643. Bbl. 28" octagon, 2" longer than standard. Original sporting sights. Full length mag. Sides of receiver have foliate scroll engraving with punch dot backgrounds and double straight line borders. Complimentary engraving extends to the lever, breech end of bbl., forearm, and steel shotgun buttplate. Forearm and pistol grip stock of fancy walnut with ebony grip insert, Style H factory checkering, and shotgun style buttplate. Left inside of lower tang is marked with assembly # "321" followed by "S" and wood grade marking "XX". Top tang channel of stock has partially visible "321" assembly # marking. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Waddy Colvert letter stating: "Rifle/ 45/82 Caliber (Note: actual caliber is 40-82)/ 28" Octagon Barrel/ Plain Trigger/ Checkered stock with pistol grip/ Lyman front and Sporting Leaf sights/ Received in warehouse November 20, 1890/ Shipped from warehouse on November 20, 1890 order number 20618". CONDITION: bbl. and mag. tube finish have largely faded to mottled gray showing spotted corrosion and handling marks. Action and fittings have a dull fading recolored finish. Stock and forearm have an age darkened appearance showing moderate finish and checkering wear with scratches, marks, and mildew spots. Stock has a small chip left of top tang. Sound action.
