1886 HALF OCTAGON/ BUTTON MAG LEVER ACTION RIFLE WITH FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 40-65 WCF. S# 65572. Mfg. 1892 with 26" octagon to round barrel. White bead sporting front sight with sporting rear sight & combination tang sight. Button mag. Blue finish with case colored action, forearm cap & buttplate. Walnut forearm & straight grip stock w/ crescent steel buttplate. Right wrist of stock has stamped initials "G.F.L.". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Winchester Repeating Fire Arms letter, "Type: Rifle / Caliber: 40/65 / Barrel Type: 1/2 Octagon / Trigger: Plain / 1/2 Magazine / Received in warehouse on July 11, 1892 / Shipped from warehouse on July 11, 1892, Order number 1595". CONDITION: 90% lightly worn original bbl. blue, showing slight muzzle wear with scattered marks & spots of freckling. Action retains 70% lightly faded original case colors, upper & lower areas are fading to gray, showing spots of freckling. Forearm cap retains 70% dark vivid case colors, buttplate has faded to gray brown. Original wood finish shows normal wear with scattered scratches & handling marks. Very good bright bore retains strong rifling. Overall this special order Winchester is in far better condition than you would expect to see compared to other examples of its age. (01-28746/BH).
