Of the approx. 152,000 letterable Model 1886 Winchesters produced, Research by John Madl indicates only 6,223 were manufactured as carbines (4.1% of production), making original 1886 SRCs quite rare. Banded carbine forend & straight grip walnut stock with steel carbine buttplate. Saddle ring mounted on left side of receiver. CONDITION: metal parts have faded to gray / brown patina with scattered fine pitting and light oxidation. Stock set has been lightly sanded with added varnish over numerous scattered light to moderate dents & scratches. Dark bore retains strong rifling. (01-28383/BH). ANTIQUE. $5,500-8,500
