Lot 3111 EARLY WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 LOW WALL SINGLE SHOT
RIFLE. Cal. 22 Long RF. S# 4067. Bbl. 24" No. 1 rnd. Marbles No. 2 white bead replacement front sight, with original sporting rear sight. Blue finish bbl. Case colored thin wall receiver, with forearm and stock flares. Early style breechblock with contours similar to the High Wall. Set trigger. Ebony tipped schnabel forearm and straight grip walnut stock, with crescent steel buttplate. Mfg. in 1886, second year of production. CONDITION: dull bbl. blue is fading to brown, showing numerous small dents and scratches. Action shows faint traces of case colors in protected areas, with balance fading to gray, showing spots of surface corrosion. Sanded and refinished wood shows scratches and marks. Left side of forearm has a 2 1/4" added wood repair extending from the action. Trigger will not set properly, adj. screw is a replacement. Dark lightly pitted bore retains intact rifling.
