Lot 3086 WINCHESTER MODEL 1876 DELUXE 1 OF 1000 UPGRADED

LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-75. S# 819. Bbl. 28" octagon. Full length mag. Sporting bbl. sights with long range Vernier tang sight. Early case colored open top action with single set trigger. Forearm and straight grip stock of nicely grained walnut have factory checkering, sling swivels, and crescent steel trapdoor buttplate. Left inside of lower tang has wood grade marked "XX" followed by assembly # "28". Top tang channel of stock has matching assembly # "28". Top flat of bbl. is engraved with added "One of One Thousand" markings. Highlights of scroll engraving are found at both breech and muzzle ends of the bbl. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Firearms letter stating: Type: Rifle/ Barrel Type: Octagon/ Trigger: Set/ Checkered stock/ Casehardened/ Received in warehouse on November 13, 1877/ Shipped from warehouse on November 15, 1877, Order number 10630". Waddy Colvert letter stating the same information, save for the years received and shipped from the warehouse, which are 1876. Stock compartment contains the front section of a 4-piece cleaning rod. CONDITION: bbl. and mag. tube retain 30% dull fading blue. Action and fittings have largely faded to gray showing traces of case colors. Stocks show moderate finish and checkering wear with handling marks, small dents, and mildew spots. Forearm has a long crack extending from the left side of the forearm tip. Single set trigger is not functioning properly as adjusted. Lightly pitted bore retains intact rifling. (01-26774/DS). ANTIQUE. $6,000-8,000.
