^Lot 3080 CUSTOM ENGRAVED WINCHESTER 3RD MODEL 1873 RIMFIRE

LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 22 short. S#. 186246A. Bbl. 24" octagon. Reverse German silver blade Rocky Mtn front with sporting rear sight. Full length tubular mag. The silver finished action has extensive vine type foliate scroll engraving with punch dot backgrounds, The right sideplate features a woodland scene with 2 cottontail rabbits. The left sideplate shows 2 squirrels on a tree branch. Complementary engraving extends to the forend cap, lever & crescent steel buttplate. Front receiver ring has a British proof mark. Forend & pistol grip stock of XX fancy black walnut feature a ebony grip insert and style H checkering. Left inside of the lower tang is stamped with assembly no. "578" followed by wood grade marking "XX" and cal. marking "22". Mfg. 1885. CONDITION: bbl. has reblued finish over remaining light pitting. Outside mag tube appears to be a replacement. Mag band pin is not present. Several action screws are replacement and most others are reblued. The custom plated action has acquired a mottled dark tarnish. the left side around the sideplate shows spots having a copper toned appearance. The forend is broken and repaired in 2 places with chips leaving a poor fit to the metal. The sanded & refinished stock has a appropriate dark look showing marks & mildew spots. The checkering is lightly freshened. Dark pitted bore. (01-26816/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,500-3,000.
