Lot 3068 EXTRA LONG WINCHESTER 1873 THIRD MODEL DELUXE
LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 32 WCF. S# 293701. Bbl. 32" octagon with sporting sights. Full length tubular mag. is held by 2 bands. Blue and case colored finish. Forearm and pistol grip checkered walnut stock features an ebony grip insert and crescent steel buttplate. Left inside of lower tang is marked with assembly # "2325" followed by wood grade marking "XXX". Top tang channel of stock has caliber marking "32" followed by lightly visible non-matching assembly # that appears to be "2534". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Waddy Colvert Firearms Research letter stating: "Rifle/ 32 Caliber/ 32"Octagon barrel/ Plain trigger/ Casehardened/ Checkered stock with pistol grip. Lyman and Beach sights/ Received in warehouse May 10, 1889/ Shipped from warehouse May 11, 1889, order number 21531". CONDITION: refinished rifle. Action and fittings retains 90% restored case colors. Bbl. and mag. tube have over 80% intentionally thinned blue showing edge wear. Sanded and refinished wood has dark worn appearance showing chips and cracks with an added wood repair at toe. Checkering is poorly recut. Functioning action.
