ACTION CARBINE. Cal. 44 WCF. 944-40). S#. partially intact 151_16. Bbl. 20" carbine style. Full length mag. Saddle ring on left side of action has been removed, the dust cover is detached. Walnut forend & bbl. up to 5" from the muzzle has a laced leather covering. Walunt stock with trap door carbine buttplate. Right side of the stock has ornamentation consisting of 56 brass tacks with a hand carved upside down "J". Top of comb has 9 hand cut notches. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: bill of sale from Don Bryan dated September 16th, 1976 showing purchase of the gun by Mr. Greenberg. Letter describes the gun and suggests possibly Native American or frontier usage. Also accompanied by unattached dust cover. CONDITION: metal shows general heavy pitting. Screw holes for saddle ring on left side are open. Stock has dark heavily weathered appearance with cracks showing heavy scraping. Action has stiff operation. Dark heavily pitted bore.
