Lot 3061 CUSTOM ENGRAVED WINCHESTER 2nd MODEL 1873 LEVER

SRC. Cal. 38 WCF (38-40). S# 79285. Bbl is 20" carbine style. Fixed front sight with reversed mounted later model carbine leaf sight. Full length mag. Receiver engraving features circular vignettes of white tail deer on both sideplates with generous coverage of foliate scroll and punch dot backgrounds having wedges of checkering forward of the sideplates. Action, fittings and crescent steel door buttplate have added silver finish. Late 2nd model action has serrated edges on dust cover with a staple fastened saddle ring on the left side. Saddle ring has a protective cloth covering. Band fastened forearm and straight grip replacement stock of fancy walnut with coarse borderless hand checkering. Left side of butt has an oval "SANFRAN" stamp. Right side of stock has "A.H.F" marking in a rectangular box. Left inside of lower tang with assembly number "C1119". Mfg. 1881. CONDITION: bbl and mag tube have 80% reblued finish showing spotted red rust. Action has over 80% added silver finish having a spotted dark tarnish mixing with small spots of corrosion. Several action screws are replacements. Trigger pin is a shorter than normal replacement. Custom stock and forearm have a loose and sometimes oversize fit to the metal. Sound action. Dark lightly pitted bore retains intact rifling. (01-26807/DS). ANTIQUE. $2,000-4,000.
