Cal. 44 WCF (44-40). S#. 77709. Bbl. 24" octagon with original sporting sights. Top bbl. flat forward of the receiver is stamped twice with the initials "W.D.A." Full length mag. Blue finish with case colored lever and trap door crescent steel buttplate. Inside of the lower tang is marked with "X" wood grade marking followed by assembly # "4121. Top tang channel of the stock has matching assembly # 4121. UNATTACHED ACCESORIES: Cody Firearms Museum letter stating the following: Rifle, Barrel Shape: Octagon, Plain Trigger, X Stock, Received in warehouse on October 20, 1881, Shipped from warehouse on October 21, 1881, order number 28915. CONDITION: metal retains over 70% fading blue showing carry wear and flaking on the receiver. The lever shows traces of case colors. Unsanded wood has a light coat of added finish over scattered scratches & marks. Sound mechanics. Lightly pitted bore retains sound rifling. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of John "Jack" Dhooghe.
