Lot 3010 EXCELLENT RECREATED DELUXE ENGRAVED 1ST TYPE HENRY

RIFLE. Cal. 44. S# 113. This is a beautiful piece of work and I don't believe any of it is original, but a true craftsman either restored it from a frame or totally fabricated it including the deluxe factory style engraving, fiery select walnut in correct early profile with vertical profile to comb, minty barrel. This rifle has been listed in database for many years as original. This rifle conforms to other early 1st types with the exception of having no dovetailed sight mortise in barrel. CONDITION: fine to excellent overall, barrel retains about 20% bright blue finish with balance smooth plum patina, crisp barrel address and serial number 113. Frame & buttplate are punch dot & scroll engraved in the style of other published Henrys attributed to Louis Nimschke, silver plating about 40% intact, finely fit and finished walnut stock. Serial numbers were observed on the 3 frame screws and 2 buttplate screws, buttplate and lower tang, the cleaning rod mortise is properly cut like other of this 1st type (S# 1-400) with larger .94" round with additional shallow groove for the larger early rods, made without lever latch, correct 1000 yard Henry rear sight mounted in frame, crescent German silver front sight, and small .9" trigger retaining pin. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny rifled six land and groove bore. (01-26881/JS). ANTIQUE. $3,000-6,000.
