Lot 3008 EXTREMELY FINE RECREATION OF DELUXE ENGRAVED
PRESENTATION CIVIL WAR HENRY RIFLE. Cal. 44. S# 3366. This is a beautiful piece of work and I don't believe any of it is original, but a true craftsman either restored it from a frame or totally fabricated it including the deluxe style Hodgson engraving, fiery burled walnut, minty barrel, and presentation to E.L Buckwalter, 114th OVI. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: copy of Gary Hendershott catalog entry offering his rifle at six-figure price. CONDITION: excellent overall, barrel retains most of a bright blue finish, crisp barrel address and serial number 3366 which was not previously in the database. Frame & butt plate are punch dot & scroll engraved in the style of Hoggson, silver plating about 80% intact, finely fit and finished figured walnut stock. Serial numbers were observed on the four screws that could be removed, butt plate and the barrel. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny rifled six land and groove bore. (25-6729/JS). MODERN. $9,000-14,000.
