Lot 2489 ENGRAVED S&W K-38 TARGET MASTERPIECE REVOLVER.

Cal. 38 Spl. S# K 292822. Bbl. 6" pinned with narrow serrations on its rib having 1/8" Patridge front sight; factory frame mounted Micrometer rear sight. Mfg. 1957; introduced 1946 and designated Model 14 during 1957. Original models had 6 groove grip straps; this has 10 groove grip straps as used on Model 14's. Fame is 4 screw variation that is without top sideplate screw (deleted 1955). Wider front sight initiated 1952 (was originally .100"). Crane and frame have "88787" factory assembly numbers. Bottom flat of barrel numbered "822". Standard case colored hammer (checkered) and trigger (serrated face). Fully engraved (unknown artist) outside the factory; no engraving under grips. Deep cut scroll style with shaded backgrounds. Natural cream colored Magna style grips with S&W medallions. Backs have integral top locators rather than metal disks. CONDITION: very good to near excellent overall appearance as refinished. Extremely faint cylinder turn line and evidence of firing since being engraved. Logo on sideplate has thinning that substantiates being engraved after manufacture. Vivid case colors, pleasing tone to very good plus grips. Near excellent bore. Very slightly out of time on 2 consecutive chambers; others properly time. Areas of cleaned oxidation on sides of frame under grips. (25-4294/NW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
