Cal. 357 Mag. S# 47107 (Reg. # 622). Bbl. 5". Ramped King's front sight with red plastic bead. Adjustable square notch rear sight with white outline. Matching numbers on frame, bbl., cyl. & extractor. This model is the first of the Magnum revolvers that was influenced by Elmer Keith; the first example was given to J. Edgar Hoover (Reg. # 1) and was popular with other famous persons, such as General Patton (Reg. # 506). Offered in many barrel lengths and with various features, each almost a custom build from S&W. Only 5224 Magnums were "registered" between 1935–1939, evolving into the Model 27 of the present. Right front of frame has triangle with three interlocking circles. Blued finish with case colored trigger & grooved hammer with patent marking. Checkered walnut diamond center grips with silver S&W medallions. Grips have no visible number present. CONDITION: bottom of rear grip panel shows a small glue repair, grips otherwise some checkering wear, handling marks & light scratches. Hammer & trigger retain most of their case colors with some light oxidation & operational wear. Balance of metal retains 92% factory quality reblue with some edge wear, handling marks & oxidation mostly under grips. Action functions properly when hand cycled.
