Lot 2458 REMINGTON MODEL 81 "THE WOODSMASTER"
SEMI-AUTOMATIC RIFLE. Cal. 32 Rem. S# 17766. Bbl. 22". Model 81 "The Woodsmaster semi-automatic rifle mfg. by Remington in October of 1941 ("EK" date code). Top of the bbl. is marked with Remington's 2-line mfg. and patent information. Left side of the receiver is marked with the model designation, followed by the Remington trademark logo above the S#. Right side of the bbl. is marked "32 REM". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the bolt and bbl., which are polished in-the-white. Plain wood forearm and pistol grip stock with checkered steel buttplate. Dovetailed Marble No. 31W blade front sight (bead area warped and bead absent), with Marbles U-notch rear sight and unmarked aperture rear sight with base that follows the contour of the receiver. CONDITION: receiver retains large amounts to the majority of its original blue finish, showing some areas of light to mild wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina, with scattered superficial handling marks, and light surface oxidation present overall. Bbl. shroud is excellent, exhibiting some light edge wear, some superficial handling marks, as well as some spots of light surface oxidation overall. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows some finish wear and flaking, as well as scattered superficial handling marks and minor impressions, but otherwise remains sound. (25-4030/MLW). CURIO. $600-900.
