Lot 2392 BOB HYNDEN CUSTOM FABRIQUE NATIONALE SXS SIDELOCK

SHOTGUN WITH CASE. Cal. 20 GA Slug, 2 3/4". S# 12253. Bbl. 19 15/16". Originally mfg. as a 16 GA SxS sidelock shotgun in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale, this example was later customized and converted by Bob Hynden to fire 20 GA slug ammunition. Sideplates are marked "FAB. NAT. D'ARMES de GUERRE/ HERSTAL-BELGIQUE". Bbl. rib is marked with FN's mfg. information, with an added "20 GA. 2 3/4" marked on the side of the left bbl. Bbl. flats exhibit various Belgian proofs (as well as a Czech Weipert Proof House bow and arrow proof), with the left bbl. flat exhibiting an added "LYMAN 350 SLUG", and an added "21 GR. UNI. CLAYS" on the right. Receiver and sideplates feature single line border engraving, with floral motifs engraved on and extending from the hinge bolt and vertical bolt. Trigger guard features a raised acorn at the rear of the bow. Metal components exhibit a reapplied cold blue finish overall. Custom checkered wood beavertail forearm (with original iron), with checkered wood pistol grip buttstock featuring a blued steel grip cap, left hand cheekpiece, black synthetic spacer, as well as a Hogue black rubber recoil pad. Upper edges of recoil pad have been ground down for a more rounded contour. Toeline of stock features a lanyard stud and swivel, with the bbl. exhibiting an added stud base and swivel. Bbl. has been shortened, rifled, as well as drilled and tapped with 3 sets of plug screws, the rear most set being mounting with a small picatinny rail featuring a Burris FastFire 3 red dot sight. Double triggers with tang mounted safety. Matching numbers are present on the receiver and forearm iron. Bbls. are unnumbered. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cabela's leather and green canvas wrapped hard case containing a bore snake, Fastfire 3 box, x2 snap caps, x5 5-rd. boxes of Federal 20 GA, 2 3/4" Sabot Slug ammunition (x4 full boxes, x1 box with 2-rds. remaining, x22-rds. total), as well as an unmarked velcro bandolier belt pouch containing 10-rds. of additional ammunition. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their cold blue finish, exhibiting some scattered superficial handling marks, as well as areas of wear and thinning that are fading to a brown patina. Mirror bores, exhibiting some hardened firing residue towards the muzzles, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood furniture shows a few scratches and superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. Red dot sight is functional and retains a clear optic.
