Lot 2386 HIGH QUALITY GREIFELT O/U EJECTOR SHOTGUN.

Cal. 12 Ga. 2-5/8". S# 29268. These very well made and at the time, quite expensive shotguns were retailed by VL&D and A&F through the 1920's -30's. This fine gun has 26" demi-bloc barrels fitted with full length solid matted rib. VL&D info is engraved on right side of top barrel with "NEW-YORK" on left. Ejector housings are engraved with rose and scroll. Barrels are stamped with German nitro proofs with last number of proof date visible being "24". Case hardened double Kirsten O/U scallop back boxlock action features automatic tang safety and double triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved with 80% coverage lightly cut rose and scroll with maker's name on each side. Fences are beautifully deep relief chiseled with an interplay of scrolls surrounding blossoms of roses and poppys (?). Trigger guard is of steel engraved to match action. S# is on short tang. Round knob pistol grip buttstock made of well marbled European walnut measures 14" over original ribbed horn buttplate. Stock features shadow line right hand cheekpiece, point pattern grip checkering and inset horn lozenge shaped drop points. Matching deep one piece ejector forend has Anson type release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: O .724. U .725. Restriction: O .029 (IMod). U .019 (Mod). Wall thickness: O .021. U .030. STOCK: DAH: 2-5/8". DAC: 1-7/16". CAST: about 1/4" off. LOP: 14". WEIGHT: 7 lb. 4 oz. CONDITION: very fine. Barrels retaining over 80% of what appears to be original blue but is probably a "best" old re-blue. Action retains about 60% original case hardening color; strong where protected. Stocks retain nearly all of what appears to be their original oil finish. Checkering lightly worn. Bores are bright and shiny without noted problems. Action is tight; mechanically fine. (25-5029/MGM). CURIO. $1,500-2,250.
