BOXLOCK EJECTOR SINGLE TRIGGER VENT RIB BEAVER TAIL PIGEON OR TRAP GUN WITH CASE. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4". S# 6885 (1962). The 28" dovetailed barrels with matted ventilated rib are engraved "E.J. Churchill (Gunmakers) Ltd" "Orange St. Gunworks Leicester Square. London." on tops. Barrel flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers. Case hardened boxlock action has automatic safety, sliding third fastener which engages short rib extension and single non- selective trigger. Action is engraved with 70% coverage rose and scroll with "E.J. CHURCHILL" in ribbon on each side. Blued floor plate is engraved "Regal". Double beaded small bow trigger guard has S# on tang. Nicely streaked dense European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/8" over solid brown basket weave pad. Point pattern checkering is at grip. Interior is lined in burgundy cloth and has burgundy Churchill label in lid. Case contains two piece brass and walnut cleaning rod. CONDITION: very fine as mostly refinished. Barrels retaining nearly all of a professional re-black with subsequent silvering on rib and sides from contact with forend. Action retains most of its original case hardening color with some cleaned stains. Top lever, forend iron, floor plate, trigger plate and trigger guard re-blued and retain nearly all of that blue. Engraving slightly softened. Stocks retain nearly all of an older oil refinish with some scattered subsequent marks. Bores are bright and shiny. Action is tight. Ejectors are in time. Mechanical three pull trigger is good. Case leather has considerably darkened and has many stains. Interior cloth is good with some rubs. Label is very fine.
