Lot 2348 EXCEPTIONAL PRE-WAR COLT OFFICERS MODEL HEAVY

BARREL DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER WITH ROPER GRIPS. Cal. 38 Spl. S# 625897. Bbl. 6". Officers Model Heavy Barrel double action revolver mfg. in 1938 (serialized in sequence with Colt's Official Police). The left side of the bbl. is marked with the model and cal. designations above "HEAVY BARREL" (both lines featuring 2 Maltese crosses), with Colt's mfg. and patent information marked across the top. Left side of the frame is marked with the Rampant Colt logo. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the sides of the hammer, which are polished in-the-white. Top strap of frame and rear grip strap exhibit a matte blue finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood thumbrest Roper grips. Partridge blade front sight with adj. square notch rear sight. Knurled rear grip strap and trigger face. CONDITION: extremely fine, with metal components retaining virtually all of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear and a few light superficial handling marks overall. Cyl. bears a light to mild dragline. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting a couple of spots of light pitting towards the muzzle, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show some light checkering wear, as well as some small scattered superficial handling marks and minor impressions, but are otherwise very good overall.
