Lot 2345 ELUSIVE, HIGH CONDITION, COLT COURIER DOUBLE

ACTION REVOLVER WITH FACTORY BOX. Cal. 22 LR. S# 55925LW. Bbl. 3". 1 of only approx. 3,000 Courier double action revolvers mfg. by Colt between 1953-1956. This example, mfg. in 1956, is marked "COLT COURIER/ .22 L. R. CTG." on the left side of the bbl., with Colt's 2-line address marked on the right. Left side of the frame is marked with the Rampant Colt logo, as well as Colt's "VP" proof. Alloy frame exhibits a blackish blue finish, with the steel cyl., ejector rod, trigger, rear strap of hammer, and bbl. exhibiting a blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt silver medallion checkered wood grips. Serrated blade front sight, with square frame notched rear sight. Interior of grips exhibit faint mostly illegible numbers, which possibly match the frame. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: non-original wood grain factory box. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original factory finishes, exhibiting some light to mild edge wear that shows through to gray patina, as well as some scattered superficial handling marks overall. Brilliant mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show light to mild smoothing, but are otherwise very good overall. Box shows mild exterior wear from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. End label is absent. A high condition example of a seldom encountered Colt Courier revolver, chambered in .22 LR. (25-1249/MLW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
