HATCH WITH MATCHING FACTORY BOX & ACCESSORIES. Cal. 38 Spcl. S# 66698. Bbl. 2". Cobra double action revolver mfg. by Colt in 1957. Left side of the bbl. is marked with the model and cal. designations, with Colt's 2-line address marked on the right. Left side of the frame is marked with the Rampant Colt logo. Aluminum frame exhibits a black anodized finish, with steel parts exhibiting a blue finish. Sides of the hammer are polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Colt silver medallion checkered wood grips, with the front grip strap featuring a Mershon "Sure Grip" adapter. Fixed blade front sight with square frame notched rear sight. Grips match the frame via a handwritten "6698" on the interior of the panels. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: factory box (matching via "66698" in black ink on the bottom of the body) containing a "Handling the Handgun" brochure, warranty card, and "Notice to Gunsmiths" card. Box also contains documentation pertaining to Deputy Sheriff L. Seth Hatch that consists of x1 "1970" dated Wisconsin police identification card, x2 Deputy Sheriff identification cards (x1 dated 1972, the other 1975), a rights waiver card, x4 Rock County, WI Deputy Sheriff badges, x2 "RCSDO" collar tabs, x1 uniform name tag, x5 Rock County Sheriff's Department uniform patches. Additional accessories consist of x2 leather holsters, x1 (apparent) flashlight belt pouch, x1 leather cartridge belt, x2 hangers, as well as a set of handcuffs (complete with keys). This example is also accompanied by a Colt factory letter indicating shipment to Krause's Sport & Hardware on October 7,1957. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory finishes, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina. Rear grip strap has almost completely faded to a gray patina. Sides of hammer exhibit light surface oxidation and age related discoloration. Mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show mild smoothing and some scattered superficial handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. Holsters show wear from use, with the black leather holster exhibiting thinning and tearing of the closure strap. Box shows mild exterior wear, but otherwise remains sound.
