Lot 2341 VERY RARE WILBUR GLAHN FACTORY ENGRAVED COLT ARMY

SPECIAL DA REVOLVER. Cal. 32-20. S# 321844. Bbl. 6" with blade front sight. Mfg. 1911. According to "THE BOOK OF COLT FIREARMS" by Sutherland and Wilson, it is estimated that out of the total production of approx. 240,000, only 475 of these revolvers were ever factory engraved. Revolver features Class "A" 25% coverage floral scroll engraving with punch dot background and star bursts on trigger guard bow, rear of hammer on grip frame, in between cyl. flutes and either side of frame, forward of cyl. Top strap ornamented with two sets of in line "O"s. Left side of bbl. marked COLT ARMY SPECIAL 32-20 WCF" surrounded by foliate scroll engraving. Blued frame, bbl. & cyl. Fire blued checkered trigger & hammer top. Sides of hammer polished bright. Revolver stocked with fancy mother of pearl grips. A copy of the Colt Archive Properties letter, confirms that the production records note that the revolver was indeed engraved, and was manufactured, May 26, 1911. CONDITION: very fine as factory quality refinished. Metal parts retain 99% reapplied blue. There is one very light area of prior pitting on cyl in between flutes. Grips are of the period, well fit & in excellent condition. Good bore with some light frosting in grooves. A very hard to obtain engraved Army Special for those who collect engraved Colt firearms.
