SUPER TARGET DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER. Cal. 38 Spl. S# 740117. Bbl. 6". Official Police Heavy Barrel double action revolver mfg. by Colt circa. 1937-1938. Left side of the bbl. is marked with the model and cal. designations above "HEAVY BARREL" between 2 Maltese crosses. Left side of the frame is marked with the Rampant Colt logo. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the sides of the hammer, which are polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece aftermarket checkered thumbrest grips. V/R is inletted into the top strap of the frame, featuring a pinned patridge front sight, reflector, and adj. square notch rear sight. Tuned action with checkered King "cockeyed" hammer. Checkered trigger. CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, showing a few spots of light to mild edge wear that are fading to gray patina, with some small superficial handling marks present overall. Near mirror bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of very light to light pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics in SA and DA modes. Grips show some light smoothing, as well as some light superficial marks and minor impressions, but otherwise remain sound. (25-5106/MLW). CURIO. $1,500-2,500.
