Lot 2288 FULLY ENGRAVED 1953 COLT .38 SUPER SEMI-AUTO
PISTOL. Cal. 38 Super. S# 109209. Bbl. 5" with "COLT .38 SUPER AUTO"; in the white at ejection port area. Mfg. 1953 (1929-1973) as a pre-70 series commercial model. Fully engraved with two tone blued and nickeled finish having the addition of 4 silver inlaid animals on each side of the slide plus another at top right rear of the frame. The engraving is bank note scroll with shaded backgrounds and distinct borders. Signed under left grip below each screw bushing and vertically under the right grip along the back strap; signature appears to be "GHO". Colt slide markings and serial number are within oval banners; no trigger guard markings. All blued with nickel accents to include barrel bushing, spring plug, slide lock, trigger (short with checkered face), grip screws, grip medallions, 1911 style wide spur hammer, grip safety, plunger tube, arched mainspring housing (grooved), both sights, extractor, thumb safety, magazine latch assembly, and its 3 frame pins. Colt genuine pearl grips. Spring guide has bullet shaped nose like those used in Gold Cups. MAGS: factory 9 rd.; nickeled with engraved floorplate. CONDITION: all aspects are near excellent and it appears new. A fine example with stellar grips, superb workmanship and a pleasing design upon a seldom enhanced model. (25-4291/NW).
