FRANZ KETTNER WITH SCOPE. Cal. 16 Ga. 2-9/16"/8x60JR. S# 3012. The 25-5/8" demi-bloc barrels are fitted with full length solid matted rib holding one standing, one folding "V" notch rear and silver bead front sights along with dovetails at rear for scope mounting. Maker's name and address are on either side of rib at rear. Barrel flats are stamped with March 1929 German nitro proofs for 16 gauge and 8x57JR rifle cartridge. Left side of rifle barrel is stamped with S# and "KAL 16-8X60R". Case hardened scallop back O/U double Kirsten action features tang safety, intercepting safety sears, raised rib tumbler end cocking indicators and double triggers (front set). Action is engraved with near full coverage very cleanly cut and shaded varying size scroll within line and geometric borders. Trigger guard is horn and tang extends to engraved steel grip cap. Bottom is relief gold inlaid with the monogram "SA". Relatively plain European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14-1/4" over ribbed horn buttplate and features shadow line right hand cheekpiece, point pattern grip checkering and sling loop on toeline matching loop found on bottom barrel. Matching one piece forend has Deeley release. Rifle is fitted with Weaver K 2.5 scope with cross hair and post reticle in Weaver clamp on rings. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: O .672. Restriction: O .030 (full). Wall thickness: O .029. STOCK: LOP: 14-1/4". WEIGHT: 7 lb. 5 oz. (with scope). CONDITION: fine, original. Barrels retaining about 90% original blue with high edge wear. Action retains most of its case hardening color with some dark splotches from carefully cleaned rust. Stocks retain nearly all of their oil finish with a good scattering of marks. Checkering is moderately worn and has some dents and missing diamonds. Bores are fine. Action is tight. Mechanically good. Scope is also fine; slightly cloudy. (25-5024/MGM). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
