Lot 2274 NIFTY SHORT BARREL DRILLING BY SEMPERT & KRIEGHOFF

Cal. 16 Ga. 2-9/16"/8x57JR. S# 11542. The 21-3/4" Boehler Antinit barrel set has full length matted rib fitted with pop-up rear and silver bead front sights. Maker's name and address are engraved on tops. Barrel flats are stamped with May 1927 German nitro proofs. Case hardened, blitz, scallop backed action features top tang cocking slide for rifle, Greener type side safety, pin cocking indicators on top, crossbolt third fastener, side clips and double triggers (front set). Rifle selector button is on trigger plate in front of right trigger. Action is engraved with well cut small sprays of scroll within scroll borders surrounding well detailed game scenes on sides with running stag in woods on left and roebuck into meadow on right. Bottom of action is engraved "KRIEGHOFF DRILLING" around mounting screw over "WALDSCHUTZ". Trigger guard is horn. Nicely fiddle figured European walnut horn capped pistol grip buttstock measures 13-1/2" over steel buttplate and features right hand cheekpiece and point pattern grip checkering. Toeline of stock is fitted with cartridge trap with space for 3 rifle and 1 shot cartridge (1 rifle hole plugged as necessary with shortening of stock). Matching splinter forend has Deeley release. Case contains: cleaning rod, etc in covered compartment 2 A-Zoom snap caps, cartridge block, glass oil bottle, carrying sling and a key. CONDITION: very good to fine. Barrels retaining most of their original blue. Action has traces of original case color where protected and is mostly silver gray. Stocks retain most of an old oil finish, possibly original. Checkering is moderately worn. It appears that stock has been shortened with steel buttplate correctly refitted. Bores are bright and shiny. Rifle shows slight erosion at throat.
