BOXLOCK EJECTOR; NICELY REFURBISHED WITH CASE. Cal. 16 Ga. 2-3/4". /.375 2-1/2" Nitro Express. S# 48183. The 25-1/4" shoelump barrels are fitted with quarter rib holding three folding leaf express rear sight and gold bead front in short ramp. Sunken mid rib is engraved "Cogswell & Harrison Ltd 141 New Bond St. & 226 Strand, London." Top of rifle barrel is engraved "Service Charge: 40 Grs Cordite. 270 Grs Bullet". Barrel flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 16 Ga. 2-1/2" and .375 Express. S# is stamped on plunger and spring housing for the C&H "Avant Tout" ejector system. Sling eye is affixed to barrels and is securely screwed through an original mounting plate on top rib. Boxlock action with automatic safety has bushed rifle striker and double triggers. Action is devoid of any engraving except what is found on screwheads with the exception of maker's name on each side. Round knob pistol grip buttstock of lightly figured European walnut measures 14-5/8" over serrated wood butt and features standard grip checkering, sling eye and vacant silver oval. Matching splinter forend with ejector trips has Anson release. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 2 Cogswell & Harrison Certificates of Origin; the second issued after it was found the ledger had incorrect rifle information. Rifle is housed in relatively new "Classic Doubles" tan canvas case with brown leather trim. Interior is lined in tan corduroy and has reproduction C&H label in lid. Case contains and original C&H marked oil bottle and 2 unopened boxes of 5 new Kynoch .375 x 2-1/2" cartridges. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .662. Restriction: R .022 (mod). Wall thickness: R .030. STOCK: DAH: 2". DAC: 1-3/8". CAST: about 1/2" off. LOP: 14-5/8". WEIGHT: 8 lb. 1 oz. CONDITION: very fine as completely refurbished. Barrels retaining nearly all of a "best" re-black. Action with nearly all of a fairly attractive re-color hardening with maker's name re-engraved. Top lever, floorplate and other blued parts with all of their re-blue show polishing over pin pricked pitting. Stocks retain nearly all oil refinish; checkering re-cut. Bores are very fine; rifle shiny with sharp rifling throughout. Shotgun without any noted problems; chamber lengthened. Action is tight; ejectors slightly out of time. Case is nearly new.
