TRIGGER GAME GUN. Cal. 12 Ga. 2-5/8". S# 1380. The 26" three stripe damascus barrels are engraved "D. Kirkwood Boston" on narrow game rib. Bottoms of barrels are stamped with British provisional proofs. French gray action with later style back spring sidelocks features automatic safety, sliding third fastener, bushed strikers and single selective trigger with selector button on right side of trigger plate of unknown patent. Watertable has filed in grooves to reduce weight. Action is nicely filed and engraved with about 60% coverage small scroll. "D. Kirkwood" is on each lockplate. Trigger guard with scroll on bow has S# on tang. Round knob pistol grip buttstock made of lightly stump figured European walnut measures 13-1/2" over red inner plate of some unknown pad. Stock is also of later style without deep flute to comb. Well cut point pattern checkering wraps over grip. Matching splinter forend with inlet schnabled horn tip has spring tension release. WEIGHT: 5 lb. 11 oz. CONDITION: very good to fine. Barrels retaining most of their very light original brown. Action retains most of what appears to be its original French gray. Stocks have most of their original oil finish with a good number of marks. Checkering is lightly worn. Most of butt pad missing. Bores are bright and shiny without any noted problems.
