Lot 2254 BUCHEL MEISTER SINGLE SHOT SCHUETZEN RIFLE.
Cal. 8.15x46R. S# 923 (Found on inside of action tang with trigger group removed and on front of action forend removed. Also on forend bolt). The 31-3/4" fluted octagon barrel has milled in broad base for barrel sight and peg front sight in long ramp with protective ears. Action, with lever removable breech block and trigger/firing group, is silver inlaid "BUCHEL" "MEISTER" "D.R.G.M." on top tang. Tang is fitted with base for large windage and elevation adjustable Diopter sight which is present but not original. Action is engraved with panels of large scrolling acanthus in shaded background surrounding oval relief silver portraits of jaeger on left and bar maid holding target on right. "GESON" is stamped under each portrait. Opening lever with finger spur has checkered horn grips embossed "D.R.G.M. BUCHEL". Triggers are double set. Schuetzen style buttstock made of plain European walnut is fitted with heavy steel hook buttplate. A right hand high Schuetzen cheekpiece is on left. Thumb rest on right side holds checkered safety that must be depressed before rifle can be fired. Fancy pattern checkering is around grip. Uncheckered matching forend attaches to barrel with sidebolt. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: rifle comes with a brown plastic case. CONDITION: good to very good. Barrel retaining most of what appears to be original blue. Some case color remains on action which is mostly brown. Replaced Diopter sight has most of its case color. Stocks have oil refinish over marks both light and heavy. Bore is very fine. Mechanically good. PROVENANCE: From the Buckstix Collection. (01-28644/MGM). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
