Lot 2178 BADILLINI ENGRAVED & GOLD INLAYED PERAZZI SINGLE

Cal. 12 Ga. 2-3/4". S# 112120. Made as a single shot only this fine gun with removable trigger group has 34" fixed full choke barrel with high raised skeletonized matted rib. Bottom of mono bloc is stamped with S# and 1998 Italian nitro proofs. Barrel date code appears to be “BL” which is 1998. Coin finished single shot action features removable trigger group and rugged double hook hinge pin. Action is engraved with full coverage truly exceptional large flowing semi-relief acanthus with floral highlights. On sides and around bottom this superb work surrounds flush gold inlaid Bulino detailed mythological beasts resembling dragons with two, found on each side. Bottom of action has two more of these back to back monsters at center and the heads of two at rear. "PERAZZI" is on fancy ribbon above center dragons which is flanked by two more dragon heads. An engraved grotesque face is found on front of trigger group and more relief floral scroll is on bow. This incredible work is by the highly respected Giacomo Badillini who passed away in 2012. His signature is on side of trigger mortise. Exhibition quality, figured and marbled European walnut extreme pistol grip Monte Carlo stock measures 14-1/2" over black Perazzi pad and has point pattern checkering on grip with right hand palm swell. Matching full target forend has Anson release. MEASUREMENTS: STOCK: DAH: 2-1/8". Rear of Monte Carlo 1-1/4". DAC: 1-3/8"+. CAST: neutral. LOP: 14-1/2". WEIGHT: 6 lb. 8 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in aluminum "Americase" lined in blue velvet. Gold embroidered "Perazzi" "TMX SCO" is in lid. CONDITION: exceptionally fine. Appears to have been shot fairly little with only a few minor marks in wood and metal finishes. Bore is very fine. Action is tight. Buttstock has been properly secured. (25-6617/MGM).
