Lot 2143 RUSSIAN IZHEVSK MACHINE-BUILDING PLANT MODEL

MBO-1M STRAIGHT PULL BOLT ACTION TARGET RIFLE. Cal. 220 Russian (5.6x39mm). S# 129. Bbl. 29". MBO-1M ("M" denoting second model) straight pull bolt action competitive shooting rifle mfg. in Russia at the Izhevsk Machine-Building Plant in 1965. The top of the bbl. is marked "1965" above the Izhevsk bow and arrow logo, "MBO-1M" and the S# over the top of the shank, with assorted Soviet proofs marked on the left side. Metal components exhibit a matte blue finish overall, save for on the bolt body, which is polished in-the-white. 1-piece checkered wood pistol grip stock features a high contour cheek rest and a grooved brown synthetic buttplate marked with the Izhevsk arsenal insignia. Grooved brown (apparent) resin bolt handle. Large sight hood and post front sight with Izhevsk insignia marked adj. aperture rear sight. All serialized parts are matching and include the bbl., charging handle assembly, bolt, rear sight, as well as the stock. Trigger housing is matching via an electro-penciled "129". CONDITION: metal components retain the vast majority of their original factory finish, exhibiting a few superficial handling marks, as well as a few spots of light wear and thinning overall. Left side of receiver exhibits a few small spots of light surface oxidation. Brilliant mirror bore, retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Wood stock shows some superficial marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains very good overall. PROVENANCE: From the Buckstix Collection. (25-6416/MLW).
