Lot 2110 J.D. MORITZ SOHN WEHRMANN GEWEHR BOLT ACTION

RIFLE. Cal. 8.15x46R. S# 5. Bbl. 29". Gewehr 98 style sights with 400m roller coaster rear. Stamped matching numbers on receiver bridge, bolt handle, buttplate, floorplate & trigger guard. Inside of handguard has a different stamped number but matching stencil number. Other parts are unnumbered or mismatched with many appearing to be from an earlier Gew 98. Magazine fed Wehrmann's rifle made by J.D. Mortiz of Leipzig. Receiver ring is in the white & marked "J.D. MORITZ' SOHN/LEIPZIG/DITTRICHRING". Balance of other parts are blued including rear of receiver. Walnut stock with two piece butt & bottom mounted sling swivels. No cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock set has a repaired duffel cut between bands, a couple divots behind upper tang from bolt disassembly, some staining, a few moderate gouges between bands, a couple light chips, scattered dings & handling marks. Receiver ring is a dull gray patina with oxidation staining. Balance of metal retains 60% blue with front band having a dull gray appearance, scattered fading, oxidation, handling marks & edge wear. Action functions properly when hand cycled & appears to have had work done to trigger. Very good bright bore with strong rifling. PROVENANCE: From the Buckstix Collection. (25-6407/MJC).
