^Lot 1720 JAPANESE EDO OR MEIJI PERIOD LACQUERED WOOD

SAMURAI JINGASA. This fine jingasa measures approximately 14 1/2" in diameter with a domed center. The exterior decoration includes copper colored flowers and vegetation with two stunning black and red colored butterflies with copper colored highlights. The interior is red enamel with a gold 2" mon on one side. There are eight attachment points around the center likely for a liner. CONDITION: The jingasa is generally in fine condition but has had some paint restoration at the top of the crown and on the edges. There is notable chipping at the base of the rim. The exquisite designs and the mon are not effected by this skilled in painting. (02-25820/BF). $1000-2000.
