BEAMTE LION HEAD SWORD.A fine, seldom encountered, WWII German Army Administrative Officer, also known as Beamte, sword measuring 42 3/8" overall. The 34 1/2" blade has a single fuller and is marked " (logo) PUMA SOLINGEN " on the ricasso. Fine silver plated hilt over what appears to be pot metal. Oak leaf embellished guard, knuckle bow, back strap, and ferrule. The langet has a Wehrmacht eagle, and the pommel is a well executed lion"s head. Wire wrapped black composite grip with a partial black leather and bullion knot attached. Black enameled scabbard. CONDITION: blade has substantial original factory polish, and the hilt shows light wear. The knot is missing the entire tassel, only the strap is present. Scabbard retains 90%+ original finish.
