Lot 1647 2 WWII GERMAN POLICE DRESS BAYONETS.
1) This dress bayonet measures 19 1/4" overall with a blade marked " ALEXANDER COPPEL (logo) SOLINGEN " on one side, with " A C (scale) S " on the other. The oak leaf decorated crossguard is stamped "L.E. 71" indicating use by the Rural Constabulary "L" (Landjaegerei), Erfurt district "E". Grips are stag with 2 rivets and a Police eagle and wreath on the front grip. The scabbard throat is marked G. Tr. 6450 indicating earlier use by the Gendarmerie (rural police) Trier district. It is constructed with a brown leather body and nickel plated fittings. It has a black leather frog with 1940's dated makers mark and a black, red and white knot with green and silver tassel. CONDITION: bayonet shows very light overall wear as does the frog and knot. 2) This dress bayonet measures 18 3/4" overall with an unmarked blade. The oak leaf decorated crossguard is unmarked. Stag grips with 2 rivets securing each side. The spine of the blade and the backstrap of the hilt are both stamped "A 660". CONDITION: blade shows very light wear with scabbard marks. Scabbard leather is a bit worn but solid. Hilt shows light wear. (02-24955/BF). NON-GUN. $600-900.
