MAGDEBURG DISTRICT POLICE BAYONETS.1) S. MG. 155. Unit marked example indicating the issuance to the above mentioned district with matching markings on the guard and scabbard throat. The blade is plated with the reverse side marked ALEXANDER COPPEL / ACS (Scale) / SOLINGEN parallel to the blade & the front side carries ACS (scale) trademark running perpendicular to the blade. It is fitted with a nickel eagle head pommel that is slotted for a rifle mount and filled with a red felt. The nickel guard is decorated with oak leaf motif. The grips are stag with 2 rivets and a 3rd Reich grip insignia. The scabbard body is leather with nickel mounts. The leather appears to be a dark brown that is faded which would indicate as being rural issue, however the dye has faded and is dark making it difficult to definitely determine. The frog is constructed with brown leather with a very nice ink stamp makers mark on the reverse. It is wrapped with a black, silver and red portepee with green and silver knot. CONDITION: overall condition is good plus. The blade has some spots of flaked plating the has pitted oxidation in the exposed areas, a slightly blunted tip and crisp makers markings. The mounts are good with some handling marks and dings present on the reverse where they are typically found from the bayos being used by the officers to attach posters in their jurisdictions. Scabbard body has some deformation and wear with handling marks the match the nickel drag and throat. Very good frog and portepee.2) S. MG. 444. Blade is very good plus with some minor imperfections with the plating, light scabbard rub and light handling marks. Mounts are good with the plating heavily worn on the face of the guard from rubbing the throat of the scabbard and some high edge plate wear on other areas. Very good grips. The scabbard body shows wear and handling marks as do the fittings. The frog shows quite a bit of crazing and some handling marks. Portepee is very good. (02-24956/ZAL). NON-GUN. $600-1,100.
