Lot 1640 WWII GERMAN ARMY OFFICER'S DAGGER BY E&F HORSTER

WITH DOUBLE PERSONALIZATION. E&F Horster was a major maker of Army pattern daggers for the Third Reich. The blade carries the sword within H logo within an oval vignette and an outer ring with the E&F Horster Solingen trademark. This unique blade has double sided personalizations with "Leonhard Harold" on the front flat & "Wieland Roderich" on the reverse flat. Fittings are silver plated with the late style cross guard utilized by the company on the majority of encountered examples and 14 leaf pommel. It has a light orange almost yellow solid celluloid grip. The scabbard is silver plated with oak leaf motif bands, stippled panels, steel rings, & 2 screw throat. CONDITION: overall good. Blade is fair-good with polished steel that has some pitting, a blunted tip, and faint scabbard scuffs. The personalization was engraved likely by a jeweler and is executed well with some wavering in the font. Trademark is crisp. Fitting have flaking silver plating which is common on this variance of Horster made fittings, with traces in the protected areas. Grips are fine with some minor handling marks. Scabbard is good with tarnished silver and light handling marks. (02-24967/ZAL). NON-GUN. $400-600.
