Lot 1623 WWII GERMAN 2ND MODEL LUFTWAFFE DAGGER BY PUMA.

Pumawerke Lauterjung & Sohn (PUMA) was founded by Johann Wilhelm Lauterjung and registered as a trademark in Solingen. During WWII the company produced daggers for the NSDAP and Wehrmacht. They survived the war and continue to produce modern knives today. This example has airplane gray plated aluminum guard and pommel embellished with an oak leaf and acorn motif and Luftwaffe eagle guard. The with light orange grips wrapped in aluminum wire. The blade carries the trademark of Puma with a diamond encasing a puma head / PUMA. SOLINGEN is marked under the diamond. Steel scabbard with oak leaf and acorn motif, stippled panels, zinc carry bands, steel rings, and double screw throat. CONDITION: overall good+. The blade is good with light scattered pinprick oxidation and some light scabbard rub. Guard and pommel are very good with traces of the airplane gray finish in the sheltered areas. Grips are very good + with some light scuffing on the high edges and minor handling marks. Scabbard is fair with traces of airplane gray plating in the protected areas, light handling marks and a few dings with bend in the bottom 2" of the scabbard. (02-24938/ZAL). NON-GUN. $300-500.
