Lot 1586 LOT OF 8 FOREIGN MILITARY RIFLE BAYONETS.
Lot consists of 8 foreign military rifle bayonets, including: 1) M1874 Gras blade bayonet mfg. by St. Etienne in 1877. Right side of ricasso is marked with 2 French inspector proofs, with St. Etienne's mfg. information and "april 1877" engraved on the spine. Left side of hooked quillon is marked with 3 French inspector proofs and the S#. 2-piece plain wood grip scales with brass pommel. Complete with non-matching blued steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains a mostly bright appearance, exhibiting scattered spots of age related discoloration, as well as scattered spots/patches of light to mild surface oxidation. Quillon has faded to a gray patina, with the brass pommel exhibiting a mild mellow patina. Grips show scattered handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. Scabbard is good, with superficial handling marks, scratches, small impressions, and spots of light surface oxidation. 2) Soviet Russian M1940 SVT-40 blade bayonet. Sides of ricasso are marked with Soviet proofs. Metal components exhibit a blue finish. 2-piece plain wood grip scales. Complete with blued steel scabbard. CONDITION: metal components retain fair to good amounts of blue, exhibiting areas of wear fading to gray patina. Blade edge shows a few nicks. Grips show some superficial handling marks and minor chipping. Scabbard is very good overall. 3) Reproduction Finnish M39 blade bayonet mfg. by GSA. Left side of ricasso is marked "GSA" above "1999", with "SK.Y" marked on the right. Top of crossguard is stamped with the S# "0151", with "-S-" marked on the left side. Metal components exhibit a brightly polished finish. 1-piece plain wood grip scale. Complete with green leather sheath. CONDITION: excellent, with some light superficial handling marks overall. Sheath shows mild wear and some discoloration, but otherwise remains sound. 4) Siamese/Thai Type 45 (1903) blade bayonet. Right side of ricasso and underside of pommel are marked with Thai characters. Apparent replacement 2-piece plain wood grips. Complete with blued steel scabbard, featuring crudely welded frog hanger and brass brazed ball drag. CONDITION: blade exhibits a gray patina with scattered spots of age related discoloration and light pitting, as well as sharpening marks on and around blade edge. Crossguard and pommel exhibit a dark gray patina and light pitting. Grips are very good overall. Scabbard shows scattered handling marks and light surface oxidation. 5) Spanish M1893 blade bayonet mfg. in 1902. Left side of ricasso is marked with a mostly illegible mfg. mark above "1902", with "P.R.8/ 2119" marked on the right. 2-piece plain wood grip scales. Complete with black leather scabbard with steel fittings. CONDITION: blade appears good, with areas of heavy dried grease. Crossguard and pommel exhibit spots/patches of light to mild surface oxidation. Grips are very good, with a small crack on the left panel stemming from the bottom screw/rivet. Scabbard remains malleable, with fittings being cleaned in-the-white and exhibiting dried grease. 6) Argentine FAL Type A blade bayonet. Sides of ricasso are etched with apparent names. Majority of blade is in-the-white, with remaining metal components exhibiting a black enamel type finish. Grooved 2-piece black synthetic grips. Complete with non-matching black enamel finished steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade exhibits consistent light to mild pitting and areas of age related discoloration. Metal components (including scabbard) exhibit areas of flaking through through to gray patina. Grip scales show scattered handling marks, but otherwise remain sound. 7) FAL Type C socket bayonet of unknown origin (likely Imbel of Brazil) with M1963 pattern spring catch. Bayonet exhibits a black enamel finish is marked "230718" at the rear. Complete with Brazilian black synthetic scabbard with canvas web hanger. CONDITION: metal components show areas of wear, thinning, and flaking that are fading to gray patina, with light surface oxidation overall. Scabbard shows moderate wear, but otherwise remains serviceable. 8) FN FAL Type C socket bayonet of unknown origin (likely Imbel of Brazil) with M1965 pattern spring catch. Metal components exhibit a black enamel finish. Complete with Brazilian black synthetic scabbard and canvas web hanger. CONDITION: good, with scattered superficial handling marks and spots of flaking. Scabbard exhibits mild to moderate wear, but otherwise remains serviceable. (02-24627-8/MLW). NON-GUN. $400-600.
