EMPIRE RELATED KNIVES AND BAYONETS. 1). British Fairbairn Commando Knife. 6 7/8" blued double-edged blade. 11 3/4" overall. Knife is marked "ENGLAND" on the handle side of the crossguard & has "broad arrow / 7" on front of the rib. Blackened brass handle. Brown leather sheath w/ blackened brass tip. Leather tabs on sheath have been trimmed close. CONDITION: blade has lightly worn original finish & has been very lightly sharpened. Brass handle has moderate wear, turned a pleasing patina. Scabbard has light wear & flexing. Stitching remains tight. Brass tip has notable thinning of its blackened finish. 2). Kukri. 11 3/4" bright blade w/ the iconic downswept edge. Blade is marked on right side w/ "arrow / INDIA". The blade also features the characteristic double notch. Grips appear to be teak, secured by two rivets. Black leather scabbard w/ brass tip. Scabbard has provision for two ceremonial knives which are not present. CONDITION: blade has been sharpened, has moderate wear w/ areas of light oxidation & patina throughout. Handle has wear & handling marks over its sanded hand-fitted finish. Scabbard has areas of missing material, loose stitching & notable scuffing throughout. 3). Replica WWI British Prichard Revolver Bayonet for the Webley Pistol. "T" profile 8" blade. 12 1/2" overall. Originals were made from French Gras bayonets. Blade is unmarked. Crossguard is marked on right side w/ Greener elephant logo. Additionally marked "ALENT" & "NO17143/16". Latch is present & functional. Steel scabbard w/ leather frog, both unmarked. CONDITION: blade has traces of blue finish w/ thinning & wear. Brass handle has beginnings of patina w/ numerous small dents, scratches & handling marks. Scabbard & frog appear unissued in very good condition. 4). Pattern 1887 MkIV Martini Henry Bayonet. 18 1/4" bright fullered blade. 23 5/8" overall. Blade has worn markings. Visible on left ricasso "/86 / C91". Right ricasso has view marks as the opposed arrow sold out of service mark. Crossguard w/ muzzle ring. Leather grips secured by four rivets. Pommel carries serial number. Black leather scabbard w/ metal tip & throat. CONDITION: bayonet has been lightly sharpened. Metal turning gray & patina w/ small areas of oxidation & fine pitting. Grips are well-worn w/ scuffed appearance. Scabbard fittings have turned overall gray & patina. Leather has wear & scuffing, but stitching remains tight. 5). Pattern 1888 MkI Lee-Metford Bayonet. 12" bright double-edged blade. 16 3/4" overall. Blade is marked on left ricasso "crown / VR / 8 95 / ANDERSON SHEFFIELD". Right ricasso has "broad arrow" & "WD". View marks & sold out of service marking. Pommel is marked on the right side "181 / I.Y D.L.O". Smooth walnut grips secured by two brass rivets. Grips also have faint view marks. Black leather scabbard w/ metal throat & tip. CONDITION: metal, including blade, has been polished. Returning to gray w/ spots of peppery oxidation. Grips are worn w/ added finish. Scabbard has wear & scuffing. Metal turning gray & patina. 6). Pattern 1888 Modified to Trench Knife. 8" blade has been ground to a Bowie tip. 12 3/4" overall. Left ricasso markings include "crown / VF / 8 91". Right ricasso has sold out of service marking. Both sides contain numerous view marks. Smooth walnut grips retained by two brass rivets. Modern replacement green plastic scabbard w/ web frog. CONDITION: knife has been cleaned over moderate wear, oxidation & pitting, returning to gray & patina. Blade has been sharpened. Grips have wear & chipping issues, showing loss of wood in inletted areas. Scabbard has damage at tip by lanyard hole, but is otherwise serviceable. 7). Pattern 1907 MkI SMLE Bayonet. 17" fullered blade. 21 3/4" overall. Blade is dated "1907". Contains view marks & sold out of service mark. Straight crossguard w/ muzzle ring. Smooth walnut grips secured by two screws. Right grip is marked "AUSTRALIA". Leather scabbard w/ metal throat & tip. CONDITION: blade has a gray sand-blasted appearance. Balance of metal, including marking area, has thinning worn green paint. Grips are worn & have small cracks. Scabbard has had black finish removed, leaving a worn scuffed appearance. Metal tips have turned overall gray & patina. 8). U.S. Marked Ross Rifle Bayonet. 10" bright blade. Crossguard w/ muzzle ring. Smooth walnut grips have "U.S. / flaming bomb" on right grip. Grips retained by two screws. Right side of pommel is marked "ROSS RIFLE CO. / QUEBEC / PATENTED 1907". Left side of pommel has encircled "arrow / 11-09 / 08". Leather scabbard w/ metal throat & tip. Scabbard is marked on front w/ "flaming bomb / U.S.". CONDITION: blade turning overall gray & patina w/ light oxidation. Blade has been sharpened w/ numerous grinding marks. Balance of metal is worn w/ gray & patina. Grips have wear & staining. Scabbard has wear & scuffing. Stitching remains tight. 9). India Pattern No.1 Mk2 Bayonet. 12" blade w/ 2" false edge. 16 3/4" overall. Blade is marked on left ricasso "MKII / 7 43 / UU". Right ricasso has view marks. Smooth walnut grips retained by two screws. Scabbard is not present. CONDITION: metal has added cold blue finish w/ wear & oxidation. Grips show light wear & staining. 10). Number 5 MkII Jungle Carbine. 8" fullered blade. 12" overall. Left ricasso marked "S / 2 94 / W.S.C.". Right ricasso has sold out of service mark. Crossguard w/ large muzzle ring. Smooth walnut grips retained by two screws. Blued steel scabbard w/ green web frog. CONDITION: bright metal has light wear & peppery oxidation. Grips have light wear & handling marks. Scabbard has been given an arsenal rework finish. 11). Number 5 MkII Bayonet. 7 3/4" fullered blade. 11 5/8" overall. Bayonet w/ its arsenal rework black finish appears unmarked. Replacement grips have light wear w/ some sanding marks. Blackened steel scabbard w/ brass throat. CONDITION: bayonet has moderate wear & handling marks. Scabbard retains most of its black finish w/ several scratches. 12). Number 7 MkI Bayonet. This bayonet has a swivel pommel, allowing its use on both the number 4 and number 5 rifles. 8 1/8" bright fullered blade. 12 1/2" overall. Blade marked on left ricasso "NO.7 MK1/L". Dark red plastic grips. Steel scabbard w/ black finish & brass throat. CONDITION: blade has light wear & peppery oxidation. Balance of metal has slightly worn phosphate type finish. Grips have light wear & handling marks. Scabbard has worn flaking finish. 13). L1A3 Bayonet. 8" fullered blade. 12" overall. Bayonet appears unmarked. Smooth steel handles w/ recessed rivets. Black finished steel scabbard. CONDITION: bayonet & scabbard have light wear, retaining most of their arsenal rework black finish. 14). Number 9 Mk1 Bayonet. 7 7/8" fullered blade. Steel socket for number 4 rifle. Marked on the left side "NO9 MK1 / POF-56" indicating manufacture in Pakistan. Black finished steel scabbard w/ brass throat. CONDITION: bayonet & scabbard is very good condition w/ arsenal rework finish. 15). Number 4 MkII Bayonet. 8" round spike blade. Socket markings rendered illegible due to arsenal rework finish. Steel scabbard. CONDITION: bayonet retains most of its arsenal rework blue finish. Scabbard has light wear, but remains serviceable. (02-24537-13/RW). NON-GUN. $800-1,200.
