Lot 1575 BAVARIAN M69 WERDER SINGLE SHOT RIFLE.

Cal. 11mm Mauser. S# 50700. Bbl. 35". Blade front sight. Ladder 1871 Mauser style rear sight. Matching numbers on receiver, rear of action, bbl. & rear sight. Trigger guard numbered "12990" possibly an assembly number. Right side of action has Spangenberg & Sauer markings denoting this rifle is a later M69 New Model made after the Franco Prussian War. Receiver & bbl. top both have Bavarian "GF" markings. Replated chrome finish. Buttplate has "10J/3" 10th Infantry regiment unit marking. Walnut stock with bottom mounted sling swivels. Right side of stock has strong Bavarian cartouche & two sets of numbers. One set of numbers is mismatched & other matches action but appears later applied. Chrome plated cleaning rod present. CONDITION: stock has added finish with a 3" chip on right front of forend, areas of finish loss, scattered dings, scratches & handling marks. Metal retains nearly all its replated chrome with finished over pitting, some light tool marks on rear of bbl., scratches, oxidation & handling marks. Action appears functional when hand cycled. Bore is mostly bright with a couple small spots of pitting but strong rifling. PROVENANCE: From the Buckstix Collection. (01-28636/MJC). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
