Lot 1566 LOT OF TWO JAPANESE MURATA BOLT ACTION RIFLES.

This lot consists of the following Murata rifles:1) Type 22 Murata Bolt Action Rifle. Cal. 8x53R. S# 136965. Bbl. 29". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2000m. Rear sight, bayonet lug & bolt parts both bear "120" likely an assembly number. Other parts appear unnumbered. Mum has four pedal over stamp. Arsenal blue finish. Checkered Asian hardwood stock set with bottom mounted sling swivels. Right side of butt has Japanese roundel. CONDITION: stock has an older sanded appearance with added finish, some chipping on checkering, some dings, handling marks & scratches. Handguard is loose & will require attention to tighten Metal retains 30% arsenal blue with overall fading to gray, scattered oxidation, edge wear, handling marks & some light dings. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bore has worn rifling with scattered dried grease & oxidation. (01-28721/MJC). 2) Type 13 Murata Rifle. Cal. 11x60R (11mm Murata). S# 59980. Bbl. 32". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1300m. Early Murata rifle that is missing several parts including both bands, bolt assembly, front rear sight screw, sling hardware & lower buttplate screw. Visible parts are matching numbered to receiver. Bbl. top has intact mum. Arsenal blue finish. Asian hardwood stock. CONDITION: toe of butt shows a large chunk missing, stock otherwise shows a few cracks around both tangs, a couple other cracks, scattered chipping, dings, worn finish, handling marks & age related wear. Metal is mostly a dull gray patina with overall oxidation & some pitting. Bore shows pitting along its length but evident rifling. PROVENANCE: From the Buckstix Collection. (01-28720/MJC).
