Lot 1565 FACSIMILE JAPANESE TYPE 1 ARISAKA BOLT ACTION
PARATROOPER CARBINE. Cal. 6.5 Jap. S# 133643. Bbl. 19". Blade front sight with protective ears. Ladder rear sight graduated to 2000m. Mismatched assembly numbers throughout. Type 1 Paratrooper carbine post-service using an earlier Tokyo Arsenal carbine. Nagoya was the only legitimate assembler of the rare Type 1 carbines. Receiver top has ground mum with Type 38 markings. Left side of receiver has serial number & Tokyo arsenal symbol. Reblued finish. Asian hardwood stock set with left side sling swivels & folding hinges at both sides of wrist. Hinge arrangement is also different than original examples & hinge not engaging to fold properly. Upper & lower tangs both added number "643". No cleaning rod present. CONDITION: refinished stock set has added varnish with a few patch repairs on underside of wrist, scattered dings & handling marks. Metal retains 60-70% reblue with areas turning gray, scattered pitting underneath finish, handling marks & fading. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Bore shows scattered oxidation & pitting with evident rifling. (25-2151/MJC). CURIO. $1,500-2,250.
